Babies are only little for such a short time! It is a time filled with sleepless nights and a whirlwind of emotions.The days can feel long but the first weeks go by in the blink of an eye. On the Treetop specializes in capturing all of the tiny details you won't want to forget. Each session is carefully styled to create a beautiful collection of artistic and timeless art of your baby for your walls.

 

the process

When you choose to have your newborn photographed by On the Treetop Photography we want you to be able to relax and enjoy every moment. Everything is provided  for your session, so you don't need to worry about bringing anything except your new baby. My newborn sessions are very relaxed with plenty of time for baby snuggles and extra feedings, so calm in fact that it is not uncommon for new parents to even doze themselves.

 

Your baby's custom session will begin with a phone consultation where we carefully plan all the details. At this we will also discuss clothing options for mom dad and any siblings as well as how you envision displaying your art once it is finished. Once your baby arrives we will find the perfect date and time for your baby's session. The day of the session, everything will be provided for you, so you can just sit back and enjoy every moment. A few days after your session you will get to see the beautiful images of your baby and decide how you would like to take them home. ​

For your convenience, I offer newborn  sessions both in my residential studio in Aliso Viejo and on location (either in your home or at one of our outdoor locations) I provide everything we will need for your baby's session. I have a wide array of beautiful wraps, backdrops and props that you can choose from. 

 

Over the past 15 years I have created a style that focuses on the natural beauty of a new baby. I love to incorporate beautiful textures and rustic elements.that beautifully showcase the art of new life. Newborns are best photographed their natural state.

​The best time to have your baby photographed is when they are between 7 and 14 days old. At this time most babies are still very sleepy and curly. The comfort and safety of your new baby and you, is always our first priority. If your baby has jaundice, is premature or just needs a little more time in the hospital we may opt to push your session back a little further. Don't worry we can still get amazing images of your baby. While most of my newborn sessions are booked before the baby is born, from time to time I have families that missed that window. Please reach out, as I do sometimes have spots in between very early or very late babies where I squeeze in a last minute booking. 

 

I encourage the involvement of siblings and parents in the portrait session. Your new baby is a very special the addition to your family and I welcome your whole family to be a part of the fun. The sibling and /family portion of your session is generally first, so that dad or a trusted friend or family member can take the baby's siblings home or to a park afterwards.This helps keep the experience positive for the siblings.

 

booking your baby's session

You have a due date, but not even the doctor can be sure exactly when your baby will actually arrive (except of course with a planned c section or induction). No  worries, my calendar is created to be very fluid so that it doesn't matter if your baby arrives early, late or right on time. I only pre-book a limited number of newborn and baby appointments per month and never more than one in a day. To learn more about my newborn sessions reach out via contact button or give me a call. Once you are ready to book, you will pay your retainer fee and sign the contract then sit back and wait for your little one to arrive. Once your baby  arrives I ask that you send me an email. Within a day or two we will then set your actual session date. 

 

My newborn sessions are typically scheduled mid-morning (starting around 9 or 10am) Monday through Friday. I do have a very limited number of weekend appointments available throughout the year, at a $100 premium. These book up very quickly, so if you would like a weekend appointment be sure to book early.

The creative fee and your signed contract formally secures your place on my calendar.
